    John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
    JFK is the largest airport in New York with 48 million passengers (in 2008). Newark Airport had 35 million passengers and LaGuardia 23 million.
    JKK Airport is located in Queens County, on Long Island. The airport has 8 passenger terminals and is situated 19km from Lower Manhattan.

    train to/from JFK Airport
    Most international visitors will arrive at JFK International Airport. The airport train (called "AirTrain JFK") doesn't travel directly to Manhattan. Passengers have to transfer to a subway or other train at Jamaica Station or Howard Beach Station. The AirTrain is free within the airport area and stops at all terminals and parking lots. AirTrain departs every few minutes from most stops. Travel time from the terminals to Jamaica Station or Howard Beach Station is about 10 minutes. A one-way ticket cost $5.

    Jamaica Station & Howard Beach Station
    Passengers at the LIRR Jamaica station, can take the Long Island Rail Road train (LIRR) and travel in 35 minutes from the airport to Penn Station in Manhattan. Fare Jamaica Station <-> Penn Station is $8 peak time. Off peak time it's $5.75. Travel time between LIRR Jamaica station <-> Penn Station is 20 minutes.
    Subway lines E, J and Z connect Sutphin Boulevard station in Jamaica with Manhattan. Subway line A connects Howard Beach Station with Manhattan.
    The subway runs 24/7. AirTrain + subway is the cheapest way ($5 + $2) to get into Manhattan but also the longest way (1hour+).

    bus JFK Airport - Manhattan
    The Airport Express Bus provides transportation services to and from Manhattan (Grand Central, Port Authority and Penn Station). First express bus departs at 6.00 in the morning; last bus 23.00 at night. Fare is $15.
    Reservations can be made online, in the airport or on-board. There are several shuttle companies. The bus stops at the airport at every terminal at the public transportation bay. At Penn station: the bus stops at 33rd Street opposite the Pennsylvania Hotel. The trip should take 45 minutes and is an easy way to get into central Manhattan. Disadvantage of the bus (and shared pick-up services) is that it can take some time to gather all passengers.

    taxi to/from JFK
    A taxi to anywhere in Manhattan is $45 Flat Fee. This is excluding toll (up to $5.50) and tip (15 - 20%). With the Flat Fee, the meter will not be turned on and the night surcharge will not be added.
    Flat Fare Policy: If passengers request multiple destinations within Manhattan, the fare is $45 to the first passenger's destination. Thereafter, the meter will be engaged and a new trip and fare occurs.
    The Flat Fee is only for destinations within Manhattan.
    Ignore offers of transportation from solicitors in the terminal. Best is to take an official taxi. Four passengers (five in minivans) is the limit for New York City cabs. The trip will take 30-60 minutes depending on traffic.
    - Fare JFK Airport -> LaGuardia Airport $28 - $32
    - Fare JFK Airport -> Newark Liberty Airport: $78 - $82 (+$15 surcharge)
