Greyhound Lines is a world famous long distance bus carrier. It is serving over 3.700 destinations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Peter Pan Bus Lines operates in the northeast of the United States. In 1999 an alliance was formed with Greyhound.



Port Authority Bus Terminal

The Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan is is located in the heart of Times Square. The terminal is the world’s busiest bus terminal with 66 million bus trips (in 2014) and open 24 hours a day. Subway lines A, C and E stop at the bus terminal.

Bus tickets
The Main Ticket Plaza is on the first floor of the South Wing. There are more than 20 carriers in the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The biggest carrier is Greyhound with over 3800 destinations in the US. Other large carriers are Megabus, Peter Pan and Trailways. The long distance bus is a cheap way to travel to other cities. An one-way bus ticket to Washington DC is available from $5-$19 (Megabus) and can be booked online.

Bus terminal – JFK Airport
Subway A has a stop at the bus terminal and runs to Howard Beach station. A subway ticket is $2.75. AirTrain JFK ($5) connects Howard Beach station with JFK Airport.

Bus terminal – Newark Airport
Take the subway to Penn Station in Manhattan and change trains to NJ Transit that stops at the Newark Liberty International Airport Station. At the Airport Station you have to connect to AirTrain which will take you to your terminal.
